The conscientious house elf Jakov Korina has met with the most horrible fate: The house in his care has burnt down. Jakov is assigned to a new home, but there is no calm house elf life to be had. It looks like the cause of the fire in his last house was arson. 

Rumors reach Jakov’s ears about free-roaming scowlers – creatures who aren’t supposed to exist anymore. 

Jakov can’t resist getting involved in the case and decides to go look for the culprit that took his first home from him. Elsa, the energetic daughter of Jakov’s new family, joins him. Will the friends find the arsonist in hiding? And what secrets do the ill-fated scowlers of the past hold?
