When Tommo turns twelve years old, he, along with other members of his tribe, must take on an animal character and begin his journey to adulthood in Purple Mist. Tommo is assigned a caracal or desert bobcat as his animal character, but getting used to the animal shape proves challenging for him. Tommo receives help from Aasa, a girl rejected by her tribe because she doesn’t have an animal character. Aasa and Tommo become friends and discover the cruel plan of Ismar, the leader of the enemy pack, and must stop him. The two friends get together with Hedda, whose animal character is a sparrow, and set out to find Ismar. The trio’s strength is measured in a wild battle where the future of their tribe hangs in the balance. 

Power of the Caracal introduces a gripping adventure series where the courage of young Animagi is tested as they’re forced to fight against the danger threatening the Animagi tribes. At a crucial moment, Tommo, Hedda, and Aasa need both wisdom and instincts.
